US Open

Seventeen year old Melanie Oudin, of Marietta, Georgia, has been taking the tennis world by storm at the 2009 U. S. Open. The 70th-ranked tennis star has been dishing out upsets to some of the sports' biggest stars, including Russian phenoms Elena Dementieva, (whom was the number four seed), and Maria Sharapova, (the number twenty nine seed). To add to it, she beat 13th seed Nadia Petrova in three sets on Monday. Because of this, she has become the youngest American to move into the quarterfinals since Serena Williams in 1999. She takes on Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark next for a possible semifinal berth. It will be interesting to see if this young woman still has enough left in the tank to pull of another upset and possibly even win the entire U. S. Open.
